Welshpool

A market town with a foot in two countries.

Welshpool is a busy border market town on the Severn, a few miles from Shropshire. Its Monday livestock sales draw farmers from across mid Wales, and visitors come for Powis Castle and its gardens, the Montgomery Canal and the little steam railway to Llanfair Caereinion.

I'm in Barmouth, about an hour and a half away, so I can come over and see you in person.

Who's searching in Welshpool.

Farming still drives Welshpool. The weekly sales at the livestock market regularly see thousands of sheep through the ring, and around them sit the suppliers, agricultural engineers, vets, hauliers and accountants that keep the farms of mid Wales running. Those businesses win work on reputation, but the reputation gets checked online now.

Welshpool also looks both ways across the border. Shrewsbury is half an hour away, and plenty of customers come from Shropshire villages as well as Powys ones. That changes how people search: a farm near Oswestry and a farm near Llanfair might both be looking for the same engineer.

Visitors make up the rest: Powis Castle, the canal towpath and the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway bring people in for a day. They want somewhere to eat, a few shops and maybe a bed, and they find them on their phone.

Why most Welshpool sites don’t bring work

What should a website actually do for you?

It's 2026. Customers expect you to have a website, and they judge you by it. Yet most small businesses see theirs as a cost that never pays back. When someone lands on your site, it has three jobs, in this order.

A visitor lands From Google, a recommendation or your van. You have seconds.
1
Say what you fixPeople rarely want to read about a service. They want to know what problem you solve for them, in the simplest terms.
2
Earn their trustBefore they get in touch, people look for reviews and examples of your work. That's the cost of entry.
3
Make the next step obviousClear calls to action for whatever matters to you: booking an appointment, a viewing or an enquiry.
New enquiry A call, a booking or a message, landing with you.

Get these three right and your website starts bringing in work.

Every site I build is planned around your business and its goal. Not a template with your logo on.

FAQ

Questions from Welshpool businesses.

Something else on your mind? Ask me directly.

Half my customers are over the border in Shropshire. How do I show up there?

List the places you cover on both sides of the border, in plain words and in what Google reads. People search by the job and the nearest town, and a site that names Shropshire villages as well as Welsh ones gets found in both.

I'm out on farms or at the mart most days. How much work is the website for me?

Very little. I write the words with you, and after that you email me changes when something's different. You don't need to log in or learn anything.

Can you build a site for a professional firm like an accountant or a solicitor?

Yes. The site sets out what you do, who you do it for and who's on the team, with fees where you're happy to give them. Clients want to know they're in safe hands before they pick up the phone.

Do you work with businesses in Welshpool?

Yes. I'm based in Barmouth and work with businesses in Welshpool, Guilsfield, Berriew and Llanfair Caereinion. I'll come to you.

Can you take over my existing site?

Often, yes. Send me the link and I'll tell you honestly whether it's worth keeping or starting fresh.

The website that Danny at Wild Origins has created for my business is far superior to the one I'd had before.

I'm absolutely thrilled with the design and he has showed great patience. Taking the time to understanding my vision and paying attention to all the details I wanted. He's been absolutely brilliant, and honestly can't recommend him enough. The evening my new website went live, I gained two new clients instantly!

We’re really happy with our new website!

A big thank you to Danny for making the whole process so easy and straightforward. He was friendly, helpful, and great to work with from start to finish. Nothing was too much trouble, and we’re really pleased with the end result. Would definitely recommend Danny to anyone looking for a new website!

Danny has been excellent to deal with.

He recently carried out a review of my business website, followed by a number of updates and improvements. Before starting the work, he took the precaution of creating a full backup and subsequently identified and resolved several issues that had previously gone unnoticed, with a view to improving the website's SEO and visibility in AI-driven searches.

He was thorough, professional and kept me informed throughout, explaining everything in straightforward terms without unnecessary technical jargon.

It's reassuring to deal with someone who takes the time to pay attention to the details and do things properly. Very pleased with the service and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.
