01 · The problem

A clever tool that tests trading strategies against real data. And very hard to explain.

Tradestar is a journal and research tool for traders. There was no site before: it was a new build from the owner's spec, and it keeps growing as the product does. I built the app behind it as well as the site. Traders get sold strategies with no proof. Tradestar does the opposite: it tests a strategy against real past sessions and shows which settings held up.

The site had to explain a technical product in plain terms, and get people started on the free plan without asking for a card.
