Bridport

A market town on the Jurassic Coast.

Bridport is a busy market town a mile and a half inland from West Bay, with the Jurassic Coast on its doorstep and Lyme Regis just along the shore. The street market fills South Street and East Street every Wednesday and Saturday, and the town has a strong independent streak, from vintage dealers and makers to cafés and delis.

I'm based in Barmouth in North Wales, and I've already redesigned the site for Whisper Us, the property and lifestyle management firm on West Street. We talk over video, you send photos and words by email, and you see every page on your own phone before anything goes live.

Who's searching in Bridport.

A lot of West Dorset's homes are holiday lets and second homes, and that has built a whole trade around them: management firms, cleaners, changeover teams, gardeners and maintenance. Owners often live hundreds of miles away and choose who looks after their property from a website, so it has to show exactly what you do and that you can be trusted with the keys.

Guests are the other half. Families and couples book a West Dorset cottage for the coast path, the fossil beaches and West Bay's harbour and cliffs, and they plan it months ahead. A site that books direct, with real photos and clear prices, keeps more of each booking than an agency listing does.
