Wells

A small city that checks its phone first.

Wells is England's smallest city, and it trades like a market town: the cathedral and the Bishop's Palace bring visitors in, and the Wednesday and Saturday markets keep locals coming back to the Market Place. Either way, people check opening hours, menus and prices on their phone before they walk in.

I'm based in Barmouth in North Wales, so we won't be meeting for coffee in the Market Place. That's fine: plenty of my clients are nowhere near me. We talk over video, I send you a private link, and you see every page on your own phone before anything goes live.

Search

Who's searching in Wells.

Wells punches well above its size. The cathedral, the Bishop's Palace and its moat, and Vicars' Close bring a steady stream of day visitors all year, and the markets fill the Market Place twice a week. Behind that is a proper working city of a little over ten thousand people, with the shops, trades and services that the villages around the Mendips rely on.

The visitors are mostly planning a day out: a walk round the cathedral, lunch, and maybe Glastonbury or Cheddar Gorge in the afternoon. They decide where to eat and what to see on their phone, often standing in the street. Being the café or shop that comes up first, with clear hours and a menu that loads quickly, is most of the battle.

Locals search differently. They want a hairdresser, a plumber or a solicitor they can trust, and they compare two or three before they ring. For them, a site that shows real work, real prices where you can give them, and a quick way to get in touch does more than anything clever.

Why most Wells sites don’t bring work

What should a website actually do for you?

It's 2026. Customers expect you to have a website, and they judge you by it. Yet most small businesses see theirs as a cost that never pays back. When someone lands on your site, it has three jobs, in this order.

A visitor lands From Google, a recommendation or your van. You have seconds.
1
Say what you fixPeople rarely want to read about a service. They want to know what problem you solve for them, in the simplest terms.
2
Earn their trustBefore they get in touch, people look for reviews and examples of your work. That's the cost of entry.
3
Make the next step obviousClear calls to action for whatever matters to you: booking an appointment, a viewing or an enquiry.
New enquiry A call, a booking or a message, landing with you.

Get these three right and your website starts bringing in work.

Every site I build is planned around your business and its goal. Not a template with your logo on.

FAQ

Questions from Wells businesses.

Something else on your mind? Ask me directly.

Can you really build a good site for a Wells business from North Wales?

Yes. Everything that matters happens on screen anyway: we talk over video, you send photos and words by email, and you check every page on your own phone through a private link. Platinum Interiors in South Yorkshire was built exactly the same way.

Most of my customers are tourists. What matters most on the site?

Speed on a phone, clear opening hours, and the one thing people come for, whether that's a menu, a price list or a way to book. Visitors in Wells decide in seconds, usually standing in the street.

Will I show up when people search in Wells?

Every site I build is set up so Google knows what you do and that you're in Wells, and I set up your Google Business Profile too, which is what puts you on the map. Nobody can promise the top spot, but you'll be giving Google everything it needs.

Do you work with businesses in Wells?

Yes. I'm based in Barmouth in North Wales and work with businesses across the UK over video calls and email. You see every page on your own phone before anything goes live, and there are no travel costs on your quote.

Can you take over my existing site?

Often, yes. Send me the link and I'll tell you honestly whether it's worth keeping or starting fresh.

Danny at Wild Origines is so good that part of me wants to keep him a secret, but he deserves every bit of this review.

We’ve worked closely together to bring my company template and redevelop my current website, as well as effectively another new company website, and he’s been fantastic throughout. He’s worked all hours, taken the time to explain everything clearly, and consistently gone above and beyond. We’ve built a great relationship, and he’s been an absolute dream to work with.

What really sets Danny apart is his ability to think outside the box and create beautiful features that work brilliantly. He understands our philosophy while bringing sound business judgement, alongside expertise in AI and systems. It’s the perfect blend, and everything you could want in a web developer and far more.

Saying I wouldn’t hesitate to use Danny again doesn’t quite cover it. As long as he’s building websites, I won’t be going anywhere else. We’re already looking at other projects together, which probably says it all. I'd also recommend him to everyone and anyone who needs his services.

The website that Danny at Wild Origins has created for my business is far superior to the one I'd had before.

I'm absolutely thrilled with the design and he has showed great patience. Taking the time to understanding my vision and paying attention to all the details I wanted. He's been absolutely brilliant, and honestly can't recommend him enough. The evening my new website went live, I gained two new clients instantly!

We’re really happy with our new website!

A big thank you to Danny for making the whole process so easy and straightforward. He was friendly, helpful, and great to work with from start to finish. Nothing was too much trouble, and we’re really pleased with the end result. Would definitely recommend Danny to anyone looking for a new website!
