Bala

A lake town that books ahead.

Bala sits at the end of Llyn Tegid, the biggest natural lake in Wales, with the Tryweryn white water and the Bala Lake Railway close by. Visitors come to paddle, raft, sail and walk, and they choose where to stay and eat on their phone before they arrive.

I'm in Barmouth, about fifty minutes away through Dolgellau, so I can come and see you in person.

Search

Who's searching in Bala.

Bala is two towns in one. There's the Welsh-speaking market town on the High Street, serving farms for miles around Penllyn, and there's the outdoor town on the water. The National White Water Centre at Frongoch runs rafting on the Tryweryn, which flows on dam releases, so the river is busy long after the lake has gone quiet for the year.

The visitors are active and they plan around two things: the weather and availability. They book a raft, a paddleboard or a sailing lesson weeks ahead, then look for a campsite, a pub and somewhere to dry off. A business that shows clearly what's on, what it costs and what happens if it pours down gets the booking.

The locals and the farms want something different: a trade they can trust, a supplier with the part in stock, a vet or a mechanic who answers. They search in Welsh as often as English, so a site that speaks both does better here than almost anywhere.

Why most Bala sites don’t bring work

What should a website actually do for you?

It's 2026. Customers expect you to have a website, and they judge you by it. Yet most small businesses see theirs as a cost that never pays back. When someone lands on your site, it has three jobs, in this order.

A visitor lands From Google, a recommendation or your van. You have seconds.
1
Say what you fixPeople rarely want to read about a service. They want to know what problem you solve for them, in the simplest terms.
2
Earn their trustBefore they get in touch, people look for reviews and examples of your work. That's the cost of entry.
3
Make the next step obviousClear calls to action for whatever matters to you: booking an appointment, a viewing or an enquiry.
New enquiry A call, a booking or a message, landing with you.

Get these three right and your website starts bringing in work.

Every site I build is planned around your business and its goal. Not a template with your logo on.

FAQ

Questions from Bala businesses.

Something else on your mind? Ask me directly.

My bookings depend on the weather. Can the site help with that?

Yes. Put your cancellation terms, what happens in bad weather and how to rebook right where people book. It saves you the phone calls, and visitors book more readily when they know they won't lose out.

I get a lot of group bookings. What should the site show?

Prices per person, what's included, what to bring and how the deposit works. A clear group enquiry form saves days of back and forth by email.

I offer activities on the lake and on the river. Do I need separate pages?

Usually, yes. People search for the lake and the Tryweryn differently, and a page for each lets Google match the right one to the right search.

Do you work with businesses in Bala?

Yes. I'm based in Barmouth and work with businesses in Bala, Llanuwchllyn, Frongoch and Llandderfel. I'll come to you.

Can you take over my existing site?

Often, yes. Send me the link and I'll tell you honestly whether it's worth keeping or starting fresh.

The website that Danny at Wild Origins has created for my business is far superior to the one I'd had before.

I'm absolutely thrilled with the design and he has showed great patience. Taking the time to understanding my vision and paying attention to all the details I wanted. He's been absolutely brilliant, and honestly can't recommend him enough. The evening my new website went live, I gained two new clients instantly!

We’re really happy with our new website!

A big thank you to Danny for making the whole process so easy and straightforward. He was friendly, helpful, and great to work with from start to finish. Nothing was too much trouble, and we’re really pleased with the end result. Would definitely recommend Danny to anyone looking for a new website!

Danny has been excellent to deal with.

He recently carried out a review of my business website, followed by a number of updates and improvements. Before starting the work, he took the precaution of creating a full backup and subsequently identified and resolved several issues that had previously gone unnoticed, with a view to improving the website's SEO and visibility in AI-driven searches.

He was thorough, professional and kept me informed throughout, explaining everything in straightforward terms without unnecessary technical jargon.

It's reassuring to deal with someone who takes the time to pay attention to the details and do things properly. Very pleased with the service and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him.
